Dr Hazell’s specialist interest are in musculoskeletal medicine (joint and muscle problems), sports injuries and occupational health. He gained a Master’s degree in sports and exercise medicine from the University of Bath. This has given him a firm foundation in the field of health promotion and preventative medicine. Through his experience on Harley Street he has strong links to world-class orthopaedic surgeons, sports doctors and physiotherapists if referral is required.
Dr Hazell’s other area of expertise is in Occupational Health where he holds the Faculty of Occupational Medicine Diploma in Occupational Medicine. He has provided occupational health advice to many businesses and also in the health sector, particularly through nursing and residential homes. He is often asked to support in staff well-being events and with preventative health strategies. In addition, he has a vast experience in pre-employment medicals. This includes the mining sector and he is part of a panel of doctors that is able to decide on fitness to work at sea on international cruise ships.
In addition to this, Dr Hazell also specialises in geriatric medicine and treating chronic disease, which is becoming increasingly more common in an ageing population. He has undertaken several hospital posts on geriatric, rehabilitation and stroke wards and gained the Royal College of Physician’s Diploma in Geriatric Medicine.
Over the recent COVID-19 pandemic, Dr Hazell has six months experience managing acute COVID-19 patients in a West London hospital and is passionate about monitoring and understanding the impacts of Long COVID.
Outside of his work as principle GP at The Tyburn, Dr Hazell leads a panel of doctors specialising in critical illness insurance in the financial services industry.
